Inspiration from Mike Burmester:
Fall, Leaves, Fall
Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.
Emily Brontë
Speaker:
Joe Kerzel, from 7 Dee’s Nursery in Lake Oswego, shared techniques for creating beautiful cool season containers with bulbs, evergreens, and perennials. He answered questions, brought a variety of plants to sell and explained how to provide balance in containers. He suggested ways of fertilizing for blossom development and for replenishing nutrients that wash out of containers. He said that Portland Rose Society fertilizer can be used for a great variety of ornamentals and vegetables.
